History

I have been providing child care in my home for over 12 years. Before that I worked in a commercial child care service environment. While working there I realized that many times the children's individual needs were not provided for. This is not the fault of the commercial service, but just a deficiency inherent to the environment. I was also concerned that "special needs" children were sometimes excluded from group activities.

My Philosophy Towards Child Care

It is my belief that each child should be given enough individual attention to help them feel comfortable with their child care provider. I also believe that the child should be exposed to a group environment where he or she can interact with other children and learn the very necessary social skills that he or she will need as they progress into the pre-school and elementary school environment. It may sound strange, but I try to prepare the children to leave me and the home care environment and look forward to "big kids school".

My Prerequisites Before Accepting Your Child

I feel that it is of extreme importance that I meet with you and your child before agreeing to care for your child. This is normally done after business hours in a face to face meeting with the parents and the child or children at my home. This meeting will help me determine if your child and I are compatible. I am usually able to tell with quite a bit of certainty whether or not your child and I will be able to get along. If I don't feel that we will be able to work together, I will respectfully decline to care for your child and will try to recommend an alternative.
