From my years of experience in child care, I would like to give you some idea of what to expect during the first week or so that your child is here. First, expect some tears! Your child will cry as soon as you start to leave. They want you to know that they love you and will miss you. You will want to turn around and rush back to them...and that is what they are trying to get you to do! But tough it up and head on out to the car and get to work. I can almost guarantee you that as soon as you are out of sight, they will begin playing with the other kids. In some cases they will continue to cry or wimper a bit, but I will spend extra time with them and very soon they will be comfortable enough to become one of the gang!
Before you know it they will be reaching for "their Mary" as soon as they come through the door and will be ready to start playing or get their breakfast. Don't feel bad (you may be the one that cries now!), they still love you but they have to get on with THEIR day. And rest assured, they will be more than ready to greet you at the door, ready to get home and tell you about their day!
And of course, always feel free to call me and see how your child is doing today! It's important for you to feel good about their care, too!
